Summer Series Round 3 “Snips Place” Feb 26th

Another great trial from our summer series organisers – Brent and Shirley.

A few of us had a short drive to the venue after an overnight stay in Kaikoura following a successful display at the Kaikoura A&P show. Thanks to everyone that helped out, especially Alistair and Brendon for setting out the obstacles on Friday, and Anita for the bacon & egg pie. Thanks also to David for entertaining the schoolgirl fan club.

Sunday saw a good turnout considering the two hour drive from Christchurch and our Elite squad being on duty in The Naki. Numbers were bolstered by a few new faces – Shane Brons, John Regan and Danny Spencer. Plus, there were some new bikes in the mix – Alan Honeybone brought out his shiny new bling bling Sherco; and Alan Duthie brought out a new-ish TY250 mono (the model with the random clutch disengagement).

Special mentions this week – Hobbit for holding it together after missing a peg first up on section one; Shirley “the trials rider” for a great battle with Peter Barnett in Clubman B; and Mel for not spilling the claret this week.

Results below and a few random pics in the gallery.

The final instalment of the summer series is scheduled for Tui Creek (not Amberley as shown in the calendar) on March 25th. Between now and then, Pioneer is hosting the first round of the South Island Champs on March 10th/11th at Kaituna Valley (Saturday) and Western Valley (Sunday). If you’re not riding and can help out with observing then please contact Peter Dunn 027 446 6257. Peter has the unenviable task of recruiting observers this year. At last count he was still a few people short. So please please please give Peter a call if you can help out on either or both days.

Cheers and beers
