As many of you may know we are trying to put together a team to compete at this years Trials Des Nations (World Teams Championship) being held in France on 7-8 September.
To add to the value of this trip we will also be attending the final rounds of the Outdoor World and European championships the week prior also being held in France. The French World rounds are renowned for being the biggest and toughest on the calendar so should be very spectacular.
We are requiring a maximum of 4 male riders and 3 female riders to make up the teams. The grade standards required for the males would be equivalent to riding our Expert and some harder while the Ladies standards will cover a mixture of grades within their sections from Intermediate through to Expert level as they need to cater for a wider range of abilities.
We will also be requiring some minders to assist both teams and a final required number of these is not yet known (as the men’s and ladies comps are on different days and 1 minder can cover both teams) but will be between 2-4.
Funding for this trip is currently very limited and the majority of the costs will have to be self funded by each rider/minder. An early budget of between $6.5k – $8K each rider is likely. Minders will be slightly less. This is not final until firm arrangements and bookings are made as there are different ways and means of dong things such as bike hire and events entered.
Applications from interested riders and minders are open to all who wish to be a part of a great trip. Team selection will be confirmed by the Trials commissioner and myself by early May. Please forward your interest in applying to be on the team to me ASAP.
Currently Vicky Fox and I are putting together the trip although any other assistance is welcomed especially in the area of funding.
The current Itinerary for the trip is as follows:
Depart Auckland approx 26 – 27 August to Paris.
Drive directly to Isola, French Alps, Southern France.
Final World + European Championship 31 Aug – 1 Sep.
Two days site seeing??
Drive to Le Chatre, Central France.
TDN 7 -8 Sep
Possible site seeing Paris 1-2 days
Depart Paris approx 11th – 12th Sep?
Back in NZ by 13th – 14th.
