Hi all.
Sunday 28th was the final round of our Summer series, but was more like the beginning of winter with persistant light showers greeting the 24 of us who rode.
John Regan and his helpers (Mike, Andy & Rob I think) had set a varied terrain trial in Omihi’s woolshed gully with a good variety of tight stuff, greasy stuff, logs, roots and banks/hills.
The rain made for an interesting 1st lap and I heard of 2 broken levers along with numerous 5’s. However the showers cleared late morning and as the section lines became more visible and drier the points lost dropped for most riders.
Glenn cleaned up Expert as usual but Shane was keeping pressure on for the 1st lap anyway.
John Regan again showed his refined skills with the new Beta, but he tried doing a neat endo into his bars at one stage. Probably has a matching bruise to me as I did the same thing on another log a lap later. I was still having problems with the new Sherco, but carb jetting wasn’t the problem this time as a new plug set things right.
It was great to see some of our new younger riders doing so well as Bradley and David had a good tussle for Clubby A. Also George Cole, who loaned Derek’s club bike for his 1st trial, showing promise. Hope we see him again.
Prize giving was humorous with lots of liquid prizes.
Sandra for best nose job
Bucket prize to John for having the most sweat in a helmet
Mel got a swimming prize for his dip at Horseford, along with Andy for best dive off his chair. Kendall was to get the Stand by your man award if he’d shown up.
Hobbit and Mike Rowley for finding new venues
Best newby to Billy Rowley
All in all, a good day.
Cheers Ross B
