2012 Oceania Moto Trials Championship Challenge

It’s on again!! New Zealand against Australia and the date is set for the Oceania Trans-Tasman Challenge on Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd of September 2012 at Australian Moto Trials Championships in Pinjarra, Western Australia. The New Zealand Team has been picked and Australia is not far away from naming their team. The team will consist of one Open Solo, one Masters (over 35), one Youth (16 to under 21), one Open Junior (Under 16) & one Open Women.

The Trans-Tasman Shield first ran in 1975 and won by the Australian team of Peter Paice, Alan Kerney and Steve Johnson. It was run every year from 75-79 and then not again until 1983 and has been only run randomly to this day. It has been contested 20 times with the current count 11 – 9 in New Zealand's favour

The NZ team is: Open Solo rider New Zealand, No1 Jake Whitaker (Beta) from Wellington who is also defending his Champion Title of Australia for 2011. As well as riding for the New Zealand team he is a favourite to take out the top spot again in 2012 at Australian Moto Trials Championships the same weekend.

Master rider is Karl Clark (Beta) from Motueka, whose experience will help with the Kiwi team.

Youth (16 to21) is Blake Fox (Gas Gas) from Dunedin who has been competing in Australia thought out 2012 and will be right home in the conditions in Aussie.
