Western Valley – Little River (Right Hand Property)
Sunday 16th August, 221 Western Valley Road
We had the pleasure of pegging Western Valley right side property on what we thought was the wettest day of winter. Oh how wrong we were. Sunday was the wettest day of winter. Peter Hosking, Ross Bristol Shane Brons and myself headed out not too early on Saturday and broke into two teams with the intent of getting home as quick as possible. We had intended to use the bottom part of the property that we had not used for a while but changed our minds when we could not get near any of the sections.
Next choice was to go up the track and use all the slippery hillside sections. After a team talk we decided to peg very open sections and hope people could get through them. Our main worry was whether everyone would be able to commute between the sections and were very impressed that all clubby riders managed it.
Steph had a battle to win experts as the rest had wimped out. Intermediate had only five riders with Ross having a dramatic improvement from his previous ride at Purau to beat Shane on his shiny new bike.
The other nine riders were all Clubman riders. Kendall found a Montesa in his garage with a good condition five year old tyre and cleaned up Peter Hosking in A grade and Shirley was the mud covered champ in B grade.
A motocross format had been adopted for the day enabling all involved to be at the great Little river pub by 1.30 pm. A great day. Where were all the soft cocks who only ride in the sunshine. You missed the chance to use 3rd gear.
