2018 Calendar of Events out now

Go to the 2018 Calendar page now for this years calendar of events

Calendar for 2018
There are a few changes to the format for 2018 which the committee hopes will be an improvement on the way we do things.
On the Wednesday the 17th we will be running our first Twilight trial hopefully at Glenelg Spur. If this is a success we will try and squeeze in a couple more before the end of summer. The summer series this year will be over 5 rounds at 2 weekly intervals. Each of the trials will start with a training session in the morning
followed by a lunch break and then the trial itself starting in
the afternoon. The training sessions will vary over the series covering everything form bike maintenance to section setting.
The next big change for 2018 will be the format for the club champs. In 2018 ALL club trials (except the summer series and Kaikoura) will count towards the Club Champs. That means there will be 8 rounds with Championship points being awarded at each event.
The last change is at each trial we will be asking for volunteers to set the next event. We will be looking to get an Expert/Intermediate and a Clubman rider to set each event. Paul has already offered top peg the Twilight Trial, so we are looking for a clubman rider to assist there. Also, if we could get a couple of volunteers now to do the first round of the Summer series that would be good.
You will notice that none of the properties have been confirmed yet and as they will only be confirmed 3-4 weeks out from each event.
It’s important to keep an eye on the website for changes
as the year progresses.

Pioneer Dinner Evening – 26th November

The club would like to thank the Cashmere Club for a great evening with a very enjoyable 3 course meal.  Some 25 people attended the event, the first of its type in many years.  With Peter Jackson as the host the evening was concluded with the trophy and shield presentations, some of the photos taken have been included here.

Club Trailer gets a facelift !

The club is pleased to announce that the club trailer has had new logos added by Mike and his people at BNS Design & Print Ltd.  If any company wants to add their advertising to the club Trailer then please get in touch with the committee via the Web site message system or phone.

The club would like to thank all riders that attended the second day of training at Western Valley.  The club would also like to extend its special thanks to Jules Huguenin for providing this training and to Matt Latham and family for letting us use this great property.

Canterbury provided a warm and sunny day for this training and both groups, Clubman/Beginners in the morning, and Intermediate/Expert in the afternoon enjoyed a challenging 3 hours of training, often well outside their normal “comfort” zone.

Training consisted of two sections being laid out by Jules who then proceeded to show how each section should be ridden, and what riding technique should be used to overcome each element of the section.  Mention should also be made at this point of the help Derek provided, not only as the MNZ official for the day but also as minder in those parts of the section that needed it.

The photos below do not cover the entire day, rather just the morning, if any other photos have been taken especially during the afternoon please pass them onto the club.

Waimak Trials Park WORKING BEE 25th and 26th MARCH

The club would like to say a very big thank you to all those members and friends that came out on the Saturday and Sunday and helped to restore the Waimak Trials park, which now looks great with many new sections.

The club would also like to  thank Will and Josh for supplying two diggers, and all those club members that supplied spades, wheelbarrows, and weed whackers. Please note that if you had any hire costs then please let Ross or one of the committee members know and the club will reimburse you.

Jack will then head down south with Alan Honeybone for some site seeing before leaving NZ.
Jack Sheppard last made the trip to New Zealand in 2014. We are very fortunate that Jack takes the time to head out this way to share his knowledge. Jack 2011 Youth world champion & former top world round rider. This year is the first year he has not ridden the world championship circuit to concentrate more on riding in the UK British Championship.
Jack this year has had to do all his normal training on and off the bike as well working a full time job. It hasn’t seemed to have affected him to much with sitting in second position in the British Championship and taking a win a few weeks back over James Dabill. Also a very good 4th position in this years Scottish Six Day Trial.
If you get the chance to see Jack ride or get to one of his training days you won’t be disappointed. Jack is really down to earth and always up for a chat. Truly just one of the good guys

MTF NZ Moto Trials Championships

We are over the moon to announce that Jack Sheppard will be competing in NZ again at this years MTF NZ Moto Trials Championships!! Jack is currently running 2nd in the British Championship after 9 rounds, it is fantastic to have someone of Jack’s calibre coming to compete!!
